چکیده
Priapism is a relatively uncommon condition, with an incidence rate of 1.5 per 100,000 person-years amongst the general population.1 Hence, most healthcare professionals are unfamiliar with this condition. Key to the evaluation of priapism is to define whether it is ischemic or non-ischemic in nature. Non-ischemic priapism is commonly due to trauma, such as genitourinary injury, leading to uncontrolled cavernous arterial inflow. It is not an emergency and chance of spontaneous resolution is high. Ischemic priapism, on the other hand, occurs commonly due to veno-occlusive causes leading to outflow obstruction, culminating in compartment syndrome of the penis. Ischemic priapism should be treated promptly as a delay in treatment could result in irreversible fibrosis of the corporal tissue. We describe a case of ischemic priapism presenting in a gentleman with a subarachnoid haemorrhage. Early recognition of this state as a urological emergency is essential to avoid cavernosal

Concomitant Traumatic Spinal Subdural Hematoma and Hemorrhage from Intracranial Arachnoid Cyst Following Minor Injury
Traumatic spinal subdural hematoma is a rare entity. Hemorrhage of intracranial arachonoid cyst is also uncommon. One 20 year-old man suffered from subacute intraspinal subdural hematoma in the sacral level after minor sports injury. He received spinal surgery for decompression and the symptoms recovered well after operation. Unfortunately, he suffered from sudden onset of aphasia one week late...

متن کاملAn association between sub-arachnoid haemorrhage and influenza A infection.
The sera of 25 patients with confirmed sub-arachnoid haemorrhage were assayed by complement fixation for 14 viruses. Twenty (80%) showed elevated titres to influenza A virus compared with 3 out of 25 (12%) of control subjects matched for age, sex and district and 3 out of 17 (17%) of a group of patients with other neurological disorders. A seasonal variation in the notification of sub-arachnoid...
متن کاملSpontaneous Subdural Hematoma and Intracystic Hemorrhage in an Arachnoid Cyst
We report the case of 22-year-old man with nontraumatic intracystic hemorrhage into a middle cranial fossa arachnoid cyst associated with a contiguous subacute subdural hematoma. Arachnoid cysts are benign intra-arachnoidal fluid collections frequently detected incidentally during neuroimaging. Rare complications of arachnoid cysts such as intracystic hemorrhage or subdural hematomas and subdur...
متن کاملSuprasellar Arachnoid Cyst with Spontaneous Intracystic Hemorrhage: A Rare Complication – Role of MR and Illustration of a Case
BACKGROUND Arachnoid cysts are congenital or developmental intra-arachnoidal CSF-filled lesions, which develop probably as a result of splitting or duplication of the arachnoid membrane. Most of them are asymptomatic and are detected as incidental findings on Computed Tomography or Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the head carried out for other reasons. Although complications such as intracystic, ...
